PRIMAL explores the fundamental wants, needs and responses that have existed from the beginning of time for humanity. Told through the structure of Viewpoints (a movement-based actor training method created by Anne Bogart and Tina Landau), and loosely based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, PRIMAL uses spoken text, multimedia, and music to create a progression of physical, vocal and emotional pictures which represents everyone’s desire to reach their full potential, from the most basic needs of food and shelter, to the peak – a desire for self-actualization and transcendence.
